F(x)’s ELECTRIC SHOCK-Album Review

Okay. Haven’t done any posts in…you know, forever. But here’s one!

Today I’m going to be talking about f(x)’s latest album. Mini-album. Whatever you want to call. It’s a good album…for the most part. So, without further ado, let’s get on with it!

1. Electric Shock

This isn’t a MV review, but I have to say one thing: I’m not a big fan of boxes, but this was a pretty box. Wait, no, I have two things to say: I hate their costumes. But that is for another day. This is a album review. Let’s just pretend the MV never existed. So, onto the song….I like it, but it’s not my favorite song on the album. At times it feels like the girls are going out of their range, but other times it feels like they aren’t. The notes the girls have right before the chorus are nice and are handled well, and I’m glad SM is finally using Amber as a singer. If you notice…there is no rapping in the song!

2. 제트별 (Jet)

Now…this is a nonsensical song for the most part. But it is a very happy, dancing-addictive nonsensical song, and I like it. The English, though, is something to worry about. “Like a butterfly”….okay…then. Little weird. But I have to admit, my favorite line in the entire song is “are my chubby legs like a baby’s?” So…strange.

3. 지그재그 (Zig Zag)

This entire album seems have the problem of the girls going out of their comfortable voice range. I mean, it’s not all the time and sometimes it’s really unnoticeable, but I’m a singer myself and I can hear these types of things. The bad thing in this song is that you can hear it a little bit more than the other songs. I’m not sure if it’s the instrumental or the way they’re layering the girl’s voices, but it sounds a little grating the ears. But the song’s not all bad. The was parts, like the Arabian sounding instrumental sprinkled in some parts of the song that I really liked, but overall I wasn’t a big fan of it.

4. Beautiful Stranger (by Amber,Luna,Krystal)

I believe this is my favorite song on the album. The girls are all in there right range, and it’s a very beautiful song. Sure, I don’t believe starting with Amber rapping was the best decision (it kind of ruined the possibility for a beautiful beginning), but hey, it was their decision. But besides the placing of the rap, I did like it. Luna and Krystal were also very beautiful, as they have some of the best voices in the group. So, overall…favorite song on album.

5. Love Hate

Like Beautiful, it used the girls’ voices in the right way. Except for…the ‘I love you, I hate you’ shrieking. That seemed a big…useless. It sounded like a bunch of 12-year-old girls shouting it at a boy. So, not my favorite part of the song. But I did like it overall. Amber was used sparingly, I noticed, but that is normal for a rapper. She got her chance to shine a couple times by singing, which I did like. One more thought: the song grows on you.

6. Let’s Try

First of all: I’m not the biggest fan of ballads. In fact, I’m usually their number one hater. So, anything I have against this song is purely biased because of my hate of ballads. But onto the song….which I thought wasn’t that bad. It had almost a tropical feel to it, and I was swaying side-to-side pretty much the entire time I first listened to the song. Sure, it isn’t amazing (Amber went a little out of her range and sounded awkward at parts), but it was okay. I have my favorites in ballads, but this isn’t one of them.

Overall, I like the album. It was a solid album. Not the best, not mindbogglingly awesome, but good. There was some ups and downs in the songs, but I liked it. Now time for rankings:

Best: Beautiful Stranger.

Somewhere in the middle: Let’s Try, Jet, Love Hate

Eh: Electric Shock

Bad: Zig-Zag (I say this only because I didn’t have a category for somewhere in between Eh and Bad)

OVERALL RATING: 3.2/5

Oh SM…What Have You Done?

*SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB* SM ENTERTAINMENT, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE??? What am I talking about? Just them in general.

In my opinion–and probably not just my opinion–SM Entertainment hasn’t been doing too well this year. They haven’t been releasing the greatest singles this year. Examples? All of Super Junior’s songs, all of SNSD’s songs, and most of all…all of SHINee’s songs in Japan.

All of us know that SM is one of the leading Kpop companies. In fact, it’s part of the big 3: JYP, SM, and YG. They have produced some of the biggest names in the kpop industry: Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, and DBSK. And believe me, they’ve had their hits: Super Junior with Sorry, Sorry, SNSD with Gee, SHINee with…pretty much all of their songs, and DBSK with Mirotic. Those are still some of the biggest hits in the indstury today. Many idols have re-done and parodied all of these. Youtube’s been flooded with dance covers, singing covers, and parodies. SM has done their job: they’ve made idols that are supposed to last forever. But lately…I’m not so sure.

It all started with DBSK, in my opinion. When DBSK split and JYJ was born. SM was starting to lose their grip starting there. But nothing was good bad until 2011. Then everyone started to go to Japan. And I mean EVERYONE. Not just SM stars either–Big Bang, 2NE1, After School, and now U-kiss just to name a few. Everyone’s going to Japan. And to be perfectly honest, I think that’s ruining SM.

SNSD. Mr. Taxi was fine. It’s got a ton of views on Youtube. But is it really that great of a song? It’s not going to stick to people like many of their other singles, that’s for sure. Before Mr. Taxi, it was even worse. They just re-made all of their old hits and called it good. So when Mr. Taxi came, I can understand why fans were excited. Then…Teddy Riley entered the picture…and exited it within a couple months. He made them a single The Boys, and went. And The Boys isn’t even that good.

Super Junior. Their latest singles, to be told, aren’t the best. I liked Mr. Simple and A-cha, but a lot of others didn’t. The MV was boring and practical. Which…brings me to another point. SM music videos. Take a look below:

See a re-occuring trend? That’s right…they’re all in studios. ALL of them. If you look all any of the SM music videos that have been released (Minus Dana and Stephanies “One More Chance”) they’ve all been in studios. Well…all the popular group ones are. Now, come on SM. You have some of the biggest name groups in the country. Some of the leaders of the Hallyu wave. You have billions of dollars. Can’t you make a more interesting Music Video? We’re not asking for much.

And now…my second to final point. I really, really don’t want to write this. SHINee’s new Japanese album “The First”? I felt like crying. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. It was that bad. The new Japanese singles were, to put it nicely…horrible. Boring melodies, it didn’t show off the boy’s strengths in a way that was exciting and made the listeners actually want to listen. After listening to the Youtube videos that were clipped into Allkpop’s article about it, I desperately wanted to see my old boys back. Where Taemin was just the dancer and a cute face and Minho actually had good raps. You other three? Keep up the good work and hope that SM gives you better material. Because I literally feel like crying.

So, why are fans holding on? Because of their undying love for their idols. When I looked at the comments on “The First” Allkpop article, I wanted to cry even more, just because all the fans were so proud of “their boys” for making a good album. And all of the rest are like that as well. SNSD, Super Junior, and DBSK. I’m not saying they shouldn’t be doing that though–quite the opposite. If I said that, I would be a hypocrite. I am guilty of this myself. When “Mr. Simple” came out, I was on youtube 24/7, posting “hwaiting!” comments and making a playlist that would play “Mr. Simple” all day while I was at school.

SM isn’t putting good works of art (or music, whatever you want to call it) because they know that whatever they put out for their idols, they will get money. It could be heart-wrenching, ear-splitting terrible and the fangirls and fanboys would save for months to buy every version of the album they could get their hands on. SM, I think, realizes this. And I’m very disappointed in him for that.

SM…please give our idols what they deserve.

IU’s “Last Fantasy” Album

IU is back!!!!! And with a brand-new, full-length album: “Last Fantasy”. Personally, I have no clue why it’s called that, but I’m not the album-namer person. I don’t think it’s going to be the last “fantasy” themed song she’s going to do….well, at least, I HOPE not….But onto the album!!

01. 비밀 (Secret)

“Secret” is a very whimsical, and it almost has an Irish feel to it. I really like the insturmentals in the beginning, with the piano and the cello, although I wish the cello part was a little longer. IU’s vocals enter right after the cello’s part, a nice soprano  to the cello’s lower tone. Now, the lyrics aren’t as deep as I wished they were, to fit the orchestra, as the song’s about a girl having a secret crush and wanting to express her feelings…just like a lot of bubblegum girl-group songs. But the different is the way it was executed. The song is very beautiful, and I have to say, this is one of my favorite songs on the album

02. 잠자는 숲 속의 남자 (Sleeping Prince In the Woods)

Now, while this song isn’t my favorite song on the album, it is very cute. It’s a song for a pinic next to a lake, but that’s about all. It doesn’t really stick to me like “Secret” or some of the other songs, but there are parts of it that I do like. The first couple seconds I absolutely ADORE. It has an almost cutesy-electronic feel, which I honestly didn’t know existed. I also like the little clock sounds in the background 2/3 of the way through the song, which I thought was a nice carry-over from the clock-theme MV of “You and I”.

03. Child Searching for a Star

I can honestly say IU’s vocals are my favorite part about this song. Her voice was smooth and high like always, but it just seemed to fit better with this song than the others. Kim Kwang Jin, who was featured in the song, had a very nice part 2/3 of the way through the song, I felt was very airy and fit nicely with the rest of the song. Actually, I think that’s my favorite section of the song! Unlike some of the other songs on the album, I think the focus was more on the vocals than the instrumentals, which was a nice change.

04. 너랑 나 (You & I)

“You and I” is a very nice song, and I can tell why they picked this specific one to be the song to have an MV. It’s very cute, has a wonderful orchestra playing in the background, with the brass and the strings balancing each other nicely. IU’s vocals are spot on as usual, and one reason I like this song–and “Marshmellow” for the same reason–is the way she plays with her voice. Making it sound differently at different parts to have a different feel. The pacing of the song is also very nice, with it starting off fairly slow and getting face-paced, then slowly down a bit, all the way up to the climax of the song–the instrumental break. From there it slows down a bit, but picks right back up again, only to slow down one last time before fading out. Next to “Secret”, this is by-far one of my favorite songs.

05. 벽지무늬 (Wallpaper Design)

At first I was a little wary to listen to this song because of the slightly eccentric title, but I finally gave in after listening to the rest of album. This song starts off with music box sound, almost sounding like a horror movie with lots of dolls…but that quickly changes at the 20 second mark. IU’s voice enters, and just like a breath of fresh air, the scene turns into a picnic. This song, while not one of my favorites, has a very nice melody, reminding me slightly of “Cleansing Cream” in a strange way. Halfway through the song there is a nice string solo, which I like greatly, being a fan of string orchestras. Overall, it was very cute, and I could listen to this for a while.

06. 삼촌 (Uncle)

This song is definitely a break from all the orchestra-orientated songs in the album. IU gets to show off her voice inflections which she is so good at it, and there are a little bit more artificial sounds in the song. Now…I am greatly confused by the weird rap by the featuring artist Lee Juck, but I quickly get over it, as the cute argument that follows it is absolutely adorable! While the rap/singing/argument is a weird combination for the song, I am willing to forgive the composer because I liked each part by itself.

07. 사랑니 (Wisdom Tooth)

This song is very nice, it has a cute beat, but honestly, I don’t really have much to say about it. This song is probably just going to fade in my mind without any notion that I’m going to listen to it again. It messes with some of the other songs on the album, althoug the song does have its jem moments. Namely, the beginning. The layering of IU’s voice worked nicely, and I like very much the man’s voice doing the “la, la, la”s in the background. The first minute was lovely, but after that it just faded from my mind.

08. Everything’s Alright (Feat. Kim Hyun Cheol)

This is a very uplifting song, in a very IU sort of way. The first two english lines of the chorus and the one other english line sprinkled in the chorus fit very nicely with the rest of the chorus, and that’s really where I feel the “up-lifting” part comes into play. Then…Kim Hyun Cheol comes in. Wow. Now, I don’t know much about him, but I’m GOING TO. His voice is pure chocolate. Now, it didn’t fit the best with IU’s high and fairy-like voice, but I do like the two seperately. I’m kind of disappointed he got such a small part in the song, but I’m glad he at least GOT a part!

09. Last Fantasy

Now…for the first 40 seconds or so, I was expecting them to break out singing “A Whole New World” from Aladdin at any moment. While that faded after that 40 second mark…that only lasted so long. Right as IU started singing, I was singing along…to the wrong lyrics: “I can show you the world, shining, shimmering, splendid”. This kind of chord was spread out a few times throughout the song, throw in a giant orchestra and a few other chords, you got “Last Fantasy”. Now, I’m not saying the song is bad: not by a long shot. It is just…too disney-like….

10. Teacher

Now, this song isn’t my favorite, but it isn’t that bad either. It would be perfect for a summer-beach-hangout-slow-dance-song, but I’ m not really why it reminds of that when it’s called “Teacher”.  But to be honest, I wouldn’t have listened to the entire thing if it wasn’t for Ra.D. Now, he’s one of my favorite male artists in Korean, but I only have a couple favorites from him, but I play those over and over. I think I can add this song to one of my favorites from him. His voice fit in perfectly with the rest of the song, and his little sprinklings fit in with IU’s voice.

11. 길 잃은 강아지 (A Lost Puppy)

I’m terribly sorry IU, but this song makes me sad and sleepy at the same exact time. I can just imagine this being played in 1800s London, an old, weary-looking man dragging his feet, just trying to stay alive. It’s a sad picture, but that’s what I think of when I hear this song. Sure, there’s some slightly exciting parts, but once those 5-10 second sections are over I’m right back to wanting to go to sleep. You know, I think I’m going to add this to my MP3 players just so I can listen to it when I’m falling asleep….

12. 4AM

Oooh….after that last song, I was about to fall asleep. Now…I feel slightly less asleep. Sure, it’s a slow song and not the greatest to listen to when you’re about to fall asleep…but when you’re fully awake, you can definitely fully appreciate it. It has a R&B feel, and I’m already swaying to it as I’m writing this. I really like that one insturment in the beginning, but I can’t seem to figure out what is it. This song shows less of IUs innocent and pure voice, but more of her smooth and sensual voice, which I like greatly. Very solid song, and I like it a lot overall.

13. 라망 (L`amant)

Oh my god…NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Stop making me fall asleep album!!! Ugh…it’s already 11 in the morning and I feel like going back to sleep again…ugh, can I just go back to “4am” please? No? Fine. Well, if I wasn’t so sleepy, I might appreciate this song. It, like 4am, shows off IU’s rich voice and it is executed very nicely…eventually kind of picking up around the 2:30 mark, only to go back to slow and jazzy. It’s a nice song, has nice vocals, and has a nice jazz band in the background.

Overall, I think I like the songs seperate rather than in succession. They’re all very nice, very pretty songs, just…too slow. They all show off her voice, just like all of her songs do, and I do appreciate that. Now…for the rankings:

Best: Secret.

Favorites: You and I, Wallpaper Design, Uncle, 4am.

Somewhere in the Middle: Wisdom Tooth, Teacher, Child Searching for a Song

Eh….: L’amant, Last Fantasy, Everything’s Alright.

Bad: A lost Puppy (I’M SOO SORRY PUPPY!!).

Overall Rating: 7.8 /10

NOW FOR A HAPPY SONG TO WAKE YOU UP!!!!!!

A-Pink My My

Well…it’s…interesting?? I have to admit, I only watched it after I saw it on the request page for EatYourKimchi. Then I finally decided “well, why not? I’m bored anyway”. So…I watched it!!

SONG: Okay, I swear, this song is going to be my guilty pleasure for a while. Oh god…just had an idea. But I’m not going to share it…just to be mysterious. But I digress. So, the song. It’s cute, completely APink style, and kind of addicting. Well, up till the 2:35 mark. Then it gets REALLY weird, with a bunch of strange beats, and I can’t say I like that part. Everything else is fine though! Well…then there’s that weird little English part “I feel in love on a snowy day”…good…to…know?? It was good English, but she kind of sounded like a more mature version of Jessica from SNSD…It was just a little odd…

I’ve never been into APINK before, but I have to admit, they have good vocals, which I can’t say about a lot of 2011 debut girl groups.

MV: Um…it’s cute? It has a lot of pink, white, and blue. There’s a bunch of girly girls trying to get their friend to respond to a confession, acting very cutesy and aegyo. While it seems forced on some, others rise to the occasion. Their outfits are adorable, and I have to say, I want some of those shoes…and I’m not a big shoe person. Their stylist was overall very good at their job, from the make-up to the hair to the clothes. Nice job!! Well…except for the dance break. Seriously, that dance break is annoying me. It’s completely misplaced and it’s just a bunch of butt-shaking. The only thing I can compare it to is Hyuna’s “Bubble Pop”. Cutesy, fun song…intense dance break. Seriously!!?? The outfits for the dance break even looked like they were pulled right off of Hyuna’s rack for “Bubble Pop”!! But besides that weird little part (which kind of freaked me out) the MV was simple but cute, kind of reminding me of some older SNSD videos.

DANCE: It was at the…11 second mark that I decided I wanted to learn this dance? That seems about right. Seriously, combined with the song, it’s perfect!!! Strangely, I can just imagine breaking out in dance to this song on a warm summer day in the park eating watermelon…but again, I digress. And then…I swear I’m gonna mention this in every section: THAT STUPID DANCE BREAK!! Ugh…it was a bunch of butt-shaking…ruining the cutesy dance that I wanted to learn…but I’m still going to learn it….

OVERALL: Not bad…I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did, to be honest. While I’m still not an APINK fan and probably never will, the girls were cute, the song was cute, the dance was cute, and the MV was…eh. I have to say, though, they hold themselves very well, and if I hadn’t known about them before, I would’ve thought they were around for at least a year!! Overall, it’s just…ADORABLE!!! (except for that stupid dance break….)

Tablo’s Tomorrow ft. Taeyang

Ever since “Bad” came out, Tablo’s been on my watch. I read the Stanford article and actually cried, love all of the songs on the album, and started looking at Epik High’s older stuff, because before, I’d never been a fan. Well…I’m still not a fan, but I have respect for them and their music. Andto be perfectly honest, before “Bad” came out and I read the Allkpop article about it, I thought Tablo was a ROOKIE!! Yeah…not smart on my part.

But anyway: I loved “Bad”, thought the story, the song, and the acting was all FABULOUS, and then…Tomorrow came out. First time I listened to it, so be perfectly honest…I was bored. But I liked the song so I just didn’t look at the MV while listening to it. But now…here’s my verdict:

SONG: I like that Taeyang was put in the song, and I’m not a Taeyang fan. It balanced out Tablo’s rapping, and since he did a duet with a girl in “Bad”, why not do a duet with a guy??? I really like Tablo’s rap and Taeyang was sprinkled through out the song nicely. I also like the piano in the background–If I was still taking piano lessons, I would definitley learn it.

MV: As I’ve said, at first I thought this MV was B.O.R.I.N.G. then I grew to like it. Partly because every time a car drove around one of the guys I would shout “WATCH OUT!!!!!” in my head, and partly because I found the symbolism in it. It think the MV was trying to get the message out that “Love is dangerous and unpredictable”, like the two cars driving around dangerously (very, VERY dangerously). The Video, while having a simple plot, background, and essentially “props”, is filmed beautifully, and I have to thank you for not using the weird camera SM are now using. THANK YOU!!! I actually liked the filming for this one more than “Bad”, mostly because, and I’ve heard Youtube comments say this–Cameraman, stop moving. We’re trying to see Tablo. Because really, it’s true. It fits the MV thought, and in Tomorrow they actually do a nice balance of the danger. Dangerous cars, not dangerous camerawork. Yay!!!

Overall, I like the Song, MV’s boring but I get it, and although I’m not going to listen to this song 24/7, I listen to it when I feel bad and need a pick-me-up (as strange as that sounds).

Cleansing Cream: A Break Down

Now, this video has been subject to a lot of conversations. EVERYONE’S trying to figure out what the song and video mean, and how the two relate. I cannot even BEGIN to talk about all the different variations of the meaning of it. Me? I have three different “suggestions” so to speak: one for the music video, one for the song, and one for both. But before I get into the interpretations, I just want to talk about the song in general:

SONG: personally, I like the song. Not love it, definitely not hate it, but like it. It has good vocals (Ga-in’s voice fits perfectly for the “young girl” kind of voice, and Miryo’s little “mini-rap” was beautiful), a good, solid instrumental, and it’s easy on the ears. I swear, when I get dumped, this is the first song I’m going to listen to 🙂

Now for the video interpretations:

MV: Out of all the different interpretations for the MV alone, I like this one the best: Pretty much, it’s talking about a young blind girl and her older sister. The older sister has a boyfriend/husband and her younger sister lives with her for whatever reason. The young sister comes into the sister and boyfriend’s room, first snuggling up to sister, but then moving onto the boyfriend. The older sister wakes up to see her sister next to her boyfriend, touching, or “memorizing” his face. This obviously gets the sister upset. Even during the day, it seems the younger sister has a fixation with the boyfriend. The sister is so mad about this she even stays up in the night to essentially “guard” her boyfriend, and her plan succeds, as the younger sister stays away. Finally, the sister is on her last straw, and that straw snaps in two (sorry for my bad “straw” analogy) when the young sister comes to the dinner table, her make-up smeared and horrible. The older sister drags her to the bathroom, trying to get the make-up, but the younger sister won’t let her, and their fight draws to a close when the older one slides to the floor, defeated.

SONG: In the song, it seems like the girls are talking more about the aftermath of a breakup, and she starts to think “what’s the use of make-up?” as if she’s asking herself “what’s the use of make-up if I can’t cover up my bad side?” As girls usually want to do: hide behind a mask of make-up so people don’t see their bad features, or “bad side”. She’s asking her “unni” or “older sister-figure” what to do to get over this break-up.

MV AND SONG: This is actually more taken from “Seoulbeats” interpretation, but worded and interpretated just a little bit different. In the video, there are two girls, right? Well, it seems to me that they are actually the same woman, at the same age: the “younger” girl is just at a different mentality age when it comes to love, hence the white, “pure” nightgown. The more mature woman, after a break-up, still has her facade but is being to “see” her more pure self when it comes to love, interacting with her ex as if it is her first experience of love. The mature woman (Let’s call her So-yi, just for the fun of it, and Suk-hee for the younger one) is trying to hide Suk-hee and her ex from her mind, but can’t. When Suk-hee tries to “come into” the world of womanhood, but does so in a very clumsy matter, this makes So-yi very mad, and in an almost violent exchange, tries to hide both the make-up and Suk-hee from her life. But she finally realizes she can’t, but has to try to guide Suk-hee and make her journey to womanhood a smooth and delightful one.

So, what do you think? Which interpretation do YOU agree with? The MV, Song, or the combo MV and Song one??

T-ARA Cry Cry

You know…I should be on a hiatus, but I love this song (and the MV) WAYY too much to let this pass up…

First of all….THANK GOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDNEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! T-ara, you are back to being my little singers that I know and love. Remember Time to Love??? Yeah, you must’ve read all the youtube comments telling you to go back to that time, because you did it!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Song: Well, in the MV, there are two versions of the song: the official version and the ballad version. Personally, I like the official version better because it sounds…cooler. I really like the beat of the song, the lyrics are good, and I like the kind of…actually, I have no clue what kind of culture that is….BUT I LIKE IT!!! There are some insturments in there that I really like, but I can’t quite put my finger on which ones they are….oh well. But I like the song, and that’s all that matters, right? Yeah, that’s right, I thought so. And on a side note, I did like the ballad version, it’s just…not my favorite version. Sorry ballad-y. And here’s the official version audio:

MV: Can I say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH~~~~!!!! Okay…just had to get that out there. I have been raving about not only the song to my friends, but the MV as well. Although it didn’t make me cry (It takes a lot to make me cry–think 1 litre of tears and such), I was completely entranced throughout the entire thing. Now…that may be a little biased because I am both Jiyeon and Cha Seung-Won biased, but hey…it was good acting!!! The story was good, and even though I couldn’t understand what they were saying, I got the story through the way the MV was done and the acting. So, GREAT JOB!!!!

OVERALL: I think this is going on the top of my list for “Best MV”, right after Tablo’s “Bad”. Wait…now that I look at my list…the stories are all….dark. Great, I’m turning into an emo….BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT!!  I like the MV, I liked the song, and I LOVED…everything??

Side note: I’m getting my haircut like Jiyeon’s. End of story.

Side note 2: THERE’S ANOTHER PART!!!!!! I~~~ can’t~~~~WAIT~~~~~!!!

Ahem. That is all.

And tune in next time for my rant on BROWN EYED GIRLS “Cleansing Cream”!!!!

A Message to Crazy SONES

Dear Sones,

Grow up. Please, grow up. What am I talking about???

SUPER 7

You know them, I know you do. But you know them for the wrong reasons. Let’s just say you didn’t know SNSD didn’t exist, okay? K-pop didn’t exist in your mind. But T-pop (taiwanese pop) did. And let’s say you found this song:

IT’S A GOOOOOOOOD SONG!!!! Catchy, has fairly good vocals (not the best, mind you, but good); has a good beat, right? No??? Well, you must not like SNSD then. Because they’re the same thing. Their songs are catchy, have fairly good vocals, and have good beats, right??? Yeah, that’s what I thought. So why you hatin’ on these girls, huh????

It’s not the song you say? It’s the girls?? Hm…I don’t see your point. They’re pretty (not beauties, but pretty), and they’ve never had PLASTIC SURGERY!!! IMAGINE THAT!!! Now, you can’t deny it–the girls of SNSD have had plastic surgery (okay…maybe not Hyoyeon, but she doens’t need it). What if they hadn’t had plastic surgery? They wouldn’t be the beauties you know and love today–they’d be normal pretties….just like these girls. Think about it.

Wait, what’s that? It’s not the song or the girls? It’s the plagarism??? Hm…still don’t see your point. Okay, maybe the outfits were similar, but come on, can you really blame the girls for that???? BLAME THE FRICKIN’ COSTUME DESIGNERS!!!! And then there was the video. Oh, you know what I’m talking about…this video:

You idiot, idiot, crazy SONES. It’s a HOMAGE!!!! Okay, maybe the dance isn’t PERFECT, but still…it was good. Please tell me I’m not the only one to think this….because I’m a SONE (kinda) too, and I like to watch covers of people dancing to Kpop (and Jpop), so this, for me, was good! It was a little sexier, a little more…what’s the word…FLUID!! Yes, fluid. They were a little more fluid in the motion, but the dance was actually pretty good. And you’re also complaining that they weren’t singing…yeah, yeah, let’s just make them sing a song in a foreign langauge…and then what would you say??? They’re bad at Korean and they should never grace a stage again.

So please, please, PLEASE!!!!!!! Stop bashing them. I’m sure they’re perfectly nice girls (that like to flaunt they’re cup size….) that like SNSD, just like you and me. So please, be nice.

Love and completely Sincerely,

A Fellow Sone

Tablo ft. Jinsil-Bad

Now, I’m not a big Epik High fan, and to be perfectly honest, I didn’t know Tablo existed until I found this song. And while after I found this song I tried to find others that I liked, this one is still my favorite.

SONG: wow. This song is AMAZING!!! At first I wasn’t too keen on the rapping because it wasn’t anything special, so I just listened to the song for Jinsil. Well, that was the first and second time I listened to it. Now I’m a complete fan of both Tablo and Jinsil!!! OMG, this song just reaches into my chest and tears my heart out, never to give it back!!! It is amazingly well done, with great lyrics, beat, and the few little effects on Jinsil just made the song for me!!

MV: Wow. This is an even bigger “wow” than for the song. It kind of reminds me “Love The Way You Lie” (I LOVED the Mv for that), but in a good way. It has AMAZING camera work, although it can be a little confusing at times. But I guess it kind of has to be like that—it’s an insane song! Also, I’m 90% sure this video is going to get banned!!! I mean, it’s amazing…but not for kids under 13…. The chemistry between the two actors in the video is AMAZING, but it can be a little creepy at times, just because the video is about abuse. The MV has a very sad story that is beautiful told, dont you think??? And just as a side note: I also love the tattoos on his arms–THEY’RE SO SEXY!!!

Overall, I loved it!!!!!! I almost made me cry, and while listening to the song, I feel like I can just sit back, close my eyes, and lose myself. I don’t have that feeling with a lot of songs…

Tell me what you think of the video!!!!!

SNSD The Boys

Okay, I know it’s been out since the 18th, but still. I really haven’t had time to blog.

Anyways…IT WAS AMAZING!!! Well, the first time I listened/watched the MV it wasn’t, but after that it was. The first time I watched either of the MVs I was watching the Korean one, and at first I thought it was REALLY boring. The first time I actually watched the 1:00 intro, which was pretty much just the girls walking around in slow-mo with rose petals falling around then and then Jessica releases a dove. How exciting…..

MV: for the MV, except for the boring intro, it was pretty good. The sets they were on were GIGANTIC and pretty cool just to look at, and I though the MV overall had a nice balance of closeups, dance version and just some extra eye-candy angles. For some of the costumes I wasn’t too happy, like Hyoyeon’s weird blue-and-feathers-outfit, but other than that I think I liked them all, especially Taeyeon and Seohyun’s. Strangely enough, I think my favorite part of the MV was when I could see their shoes…Idk why though. Also, in the closeups, is it just me or did Jessica no longer look like she usually does??? She was gorgeous with her hair like that!!! And so was Sunny’s hair!

Korean Song: since I watched and heard the Korean version first, I should probably like it better, right?? Not necessarily. While I do like the Korean version, I like the english better. True, there are times where I like the Korean just as the same (Sooyoung’s and Hyoyeon’s part and Hyoyeon’s rap). I really like the way the rap sounds in Korean, but overall I just like the english version.

English Song: ok, now that we’ve established that I like the english better, I have to say…this is actually better than I expected! Sure, I’d seen the english teasers and everything, but that didn’t really give me much. After listening to the english a couple times and watching the re-uploaded English MV on different channels, I finally realized something: Tiffany doesn’t have many lines. And she’s an english speaker! Sure, Jessica has a good amount of parts, but Tiffany has like…none!! That said, I’m really impressed at the girls’ english! Especially Seohyun and Hyoyeon’s!!!! It’s AMAZING!!

Song Overall: I actually have a couple bad things to say about this song. Although this almost disappeared after watching the english, I still belive in it: is is just me, or does the song seem a little choppy? I mean, it’s lalalala one moment, and then “GIRLS BRING THE BOYS OUT!!” the next. Again, I think the song messes better in the english than the Korean, but it just seems like Teddy Riley just came up with some parts and then said “hm…which one should I use for SNSD’s The Boys??? I know!!! ALL OF THEM!! I’ll just mesh them all together!!” Is that just me???
